  1. 1. Cosmo
    2. I chose this post because it was humorous and surprising.
    3. It criticizes Cosmo Magazine readers satirizing the content of Cosmo articles.
    4. The blog's layout is not intimidating at all, their are advertisements surrounding the article page and the post itself is not too lengthy. It is inviting. It makes me want to look around the other pages of the website.
    5. The blogger uses the word "we" when addressing the readers, as if the reader is similar to the blogger and shares the idea that Cosmo magazine is bad, thus it is targeted for insiders. The blogger makes the assumption that the reader doesn't like Cosmo and only read it when she was 16 years old. I however disagree with this, as I am 18 and still enjoy reading it, and am a fan of the mag.

  2. http://blog.travelpod.com/travel-blog-entries/michelleb918/1/1292524976/tpod.html
    1. I searched for travel abroad experiences in Italy.
    2. This post was more detailed and in depth in their description of why they recommend traveling abroad to Italy.
    3. The hook is the writer saying that it was the best time that she has ever had
    4. The blog's layout seems fairly easy to use, as opposed to some of the other more complicated looking blogs I looked at.
    5. This blog is definitely inviting for outsiders as well as insiders. The writer does not make it seem like yo must know her in order to understand her post but yet makes it easy for everyone that is thinking of traveling abroad to understand.

    1. I searched for NFL lockout news.
    2. I chose this post because it was the most recent one.
    3. The blog starts out with a sentence that sums up the overall subject. And then it uses a quote from a coach to draw the reader in and give it validity.
    4. The layout is inviting. It has a list of posts and pictures to make you want to read them.
    5. The blog is mostly for insiders because the author assumes that the readers already have some kind of previous information about the situation. This was true of me.

  4. http://iamfashion.blogspot.com/

    1. I searched for blogs about fashion.
    2. I read the post entitled "On a Final Note", and I chose it because I felt that if I started with the first post it would be like watching the latest episode of a TV show without knowing the background or plot of the show.
    3. The first sentence of the post is definitely an attention grabber, and then the writer begins the introduction after that.
    4. The blog's layout is extremely inviting to me, a girl who enjoy fashion, due to the girly font, the pink font, and the pictures of glitzy clothing and accessories.
    5. I think the blog is meant for everyone. The two girls that started the blog must have merely wanted to comment on the trends and styles they witnessed during their college career. As long as the reader is interested, they don't have to acquire any knowledge before.

  5. 1. I searched for "European Travel by Train" to find this post.
    2. The site was well organized and full of useful information. Also, some other blogs I came across were written in English, but not by native speakers which meant they had grammatical and spelling errors.
    3. The author begins with a short paragraph about the wonderful history and benefits of trains. She then includes a quote: "We wander for distraction, but we travel for fulfillment." – Hilaire Belloc
    4. The format of the site is very easy to read; all the information is in one place on the page, with helpful links to the right. This makes it inviting and easy to use.
    5. The author thinks that her audience will be very diverse. She includes info about children who use the train to get to school, adults who use the train to get to work, vacationers who use the train to see new places, and royalty who use the train to visit subjects. http://www.renminmeishu.com/train-travel-europe/

I searched for northwest guilford lacrosse. I chose this post because the events of the game were written like a story and it was very interesting. The introduction is a statement that tells the reader about how one sports game is fit to be a movie and it really gets the readers attention. The layout is very inviting with light and bright colors with a font that is easy to read. The blog can be for insiders or outsiders, but insiders that attended northwest like myself might be able to relate better to the events posted in the blog because they experienced them during their time at the school.

  7. 1. Sewing Clothes
    2. This post gave very detailed instructions and step-by-step pictures that made the post flow very well.
    3. The writer introduces the post with a short anecdote about buying the fabric for the project and the mistake that she made, which effectively hooks the reader because the author is relatable and human.
    4. The blog's layout is very inviting; across the top of the blog are the authors family photos, on the left side the author introduces herself with a short biography and the layout of the text makes reading the posts extremely easy.
    5. The blogger assumes her audience to be mostly moms with children because she not only posts about sewing, but she posts about her day to day life being a mother. The author does a good job of assuming that her readers are all at different levels of sewing experience, so she makes her posts easy to understand for beginner sewers and advanced sewers alike. The assumption that she has a broad audience are absolutely true.

  8. http://www.thephotoargus.com/inspiration/40-awesome-examples-of-action-photography/
    1. "Photography"

    2. All the other posts were just talking about how to take pictures or how to begin your career. But this website showed really cool examples of action photography which is a very hard concept to master. I really liked looking at all the visuals rather than reading about what photography is.

    3. First off the writer did a really good job with hooking the reader with the title "40 Awesome Examples of Action Photography". That already makes the photos sound interesting because there are so many pictures of objects or people in motion. The writer also makes the pictures seem larger than life. He instructs the audience to "get lost in the pictures" and guarantees that the pictures will have them "trapped in time". The writer makes large promises in order to hook the reader.

    4. I didn't like the black background or all of the advertisements. It made the layout look busy and steered my attention way from the pictures.

    5. The blogger thinks the audience is a mixed group of people, ranging from people interested in photography from people who are just bored. As long as you have a pair of eyes, you are good to go. He also assumes that the people looking at these pictures are looking at them as a means of escape to an alternate reality where water stands still or people are flying in the air. Yes! I have eyes and I love to imagine/escape sometimes.

  9. 1. Music therapy
    2. It seemed to have more structured information and was easier to read than ones that were bogged down with videos and advertisements. It looked more like a news article.
    3. She mentions how many people have probably heard about music therapy helping ease pain and tension in cancer, in an effort to relate to the reader.
    4. I think it's a little more intimidating because it looks very professional and it's written with a scientific basis, but if you're looking for solid information professionalism is encouraging.
    5. The blogger assumes that the audience wants to know the effectiveness of music therapy and is thus interested in trial results and the effects it's had on people in real (not testing) situations. She also addresses clinicians, so she probably assumes that the reader has somewhat of a professional background rather than being a person who is interested in maybe using music therapy.

  10. URL: http://www.tfarecordings.org/213-build-a-home-recording-studio-record-your-own-music-then-record-for-other-musicians-too.html

    1. Recording Music
    2. It had a more organized preview on the google search page and didn't look like it was trying to sell me something.
    3. It talks about the how the music industry is evolving in a way that makes recording music in a home studio more economically and artistically viable than recording in a studio where an artist would pay by the hour. The author tries to explain advantages in mainly terms of cost.
    4. It is very inviting and the body of the post is separated into several neat paragraphs.

  11. 1. fitness and nutrition
    2. This site focuses on healthy living in a cost effective way. Staying healthy can be difficult and expensive, which turns people away form such a lifestyle. This blog targets those people, and gives them tips to remain healthy on a budget.
    3. The writer addresses the average person and their common problems. He or she suggests these daily troubles and how they affect our health. This kind of introduction makes the reader want to know how to work around such problems.
    4. It is rather plain, but it looks informative.
    5. The writer does not assume that the entire audience lives a healthy lifestyle. Rather, he or she tries to highlight healthy tips and advice that are applicabe to all readers from all different backgrounds.

    1. I searched for posts related to "storytelling."
    2. The title suggested that the content of the post would be interesting and the page was clean, neat and professional. The blog also seemed to have some support, as indicated by ads and followers.
    3. The introduction is underwhelming and rather redundant, but hints at the rest of the post's content.
    4. The layout is satisfactory. The aesthetic is simple but strong; it is unlikely that one would be immediately turned away from the site.

  13. 1. I searched for Endangered Sea Creatures and clicked on this link: http://www.marineinsight.com/marine/environment/10-endangered-ocean-species-and-marine-animals/

    2. I chose this blog over the others because The title was more specific and stated that it contained insight in the title so I thought it would be more specific.

3.The blog provides a concise and descriptive explanation to it's purpose and introduces the set up of content for each of the 10 animals listed.

4.I think that it is reader friendly by providing pictures and short paragraphs. It seems to ave an agenda to raise awareness to a wide range of readers.

  14. http://www.heatherconnblogs.com/open-mind-open-heart-finding-mindfulfulness-every-day/

    1) I searched for "open mind and heart."

    2) The other blogs I found were random musings and photographs from a would-be artist and the daily life of a Peace Corps volunteer; neither were particularly engaging, and neither had much relation to what I had been searching for. I then found the post linked to above. The content was interesting and relevant, and the rest of the blog seems to be also.

    3) The title is interesting and the writer draws readers in by describing the speaker and his beliefs in the first paragraph.

    4) The layout is simple and effective.

    5) I don't know what assumptions the writer is making about her audience, besides that they're interested in the topic(s) in question. This post didn't seem to require any prior knowledge for full comprehension.

  15. http://www.avclub.com/articles/beat-poetry,60906/?utm_medium=RSS&utm_campaign=feeds

    1) I like poetry and writing so I kind of just searched poetry and this one popped up :)

    2) I really enjoy beat poetry so I thought this would be interesting

    3) It starts out with a bold statement (literally, it's bolded) that at least hooked me

    4) If you really didn't like long articles, this blog could be intimidating but I highly enjoy articles so I thought it was inviting.

    5) There's a lot of name dropping so it's probably for those who are already familiar with the subject.

  16. 1. Fantasy Football
    2. I chose this post because it was the most interesting one I was able to find.
    3. The writer starts off by saying how popular fantasy football has gotten, and quoted a very well known song.
    4. The blog's layout is inviting, as it is clear and concise.
    5. The blog is for insiders and for outsiders. the only assumption that the blogger makes is that the readers know what fantasy football is. This assumption is true of me.

I searched for "dealing with stress in college" And I chose this post because i liked all of the options it provided for dealing with stress. The article begins with the line "Stress. Stress. Stress" I thought this was a really great begining, because the straightfowardness quickly captured my attention.
